Established in 1926 we have been caring for the eyes of the people of Whitley Bay for over 95 years.  Our current owners are, Whitley Bay resident, Chris Steven and his brother Mark.  They are the 4th generation of Optometrists in the Steven family, with their Great-Grandfather having founded what is now Advanced Vision in Tynemouth (although this practice passed from the Steven family ownership prior to the 2nd World War).  Our aim is to stock the most exciting frame ranges available on the High Street sourced from Paris, Denmark and Austria.  We use Carl Zeiss precision lenses which offer outstanding optical clarity.  We strive for the highest quality in everything we do.

We use the latest technology to ensure our eye test is amongst the most advanced available on the high street.  As well as the technology, we give our optometrists the time to use it properly with 45 minute appointments meaning neither you, nor them, are rushed and can be confident your eyes have been well cared for.

Our Practice manager, Alison, has over 30 years experience in optics and is a fully qualified dispensing optician with an unrivaled knowledge of modern frames and lenses.  She is ably supported by our dispensing team of Jan, Tracey and Robyn.

Our longstanding resident optometrist, Martin Hood, splits his time between working for us, working for the hospital eye service and chairing the North East Optical Society.  Our other regular optometrist is Rohit Sharma, who recently became a Dad for the first time.  We are lucky as he is able to squeeze a little work in to his busy new-Dad schedule as well as writing and recording his own music (his latest song on Spotify). Our newest optometrist is Asim Iqbal who has recently qualified but has impressed all of us with his outstanding optical knowledge and his love of musical theatre.
